The #1 Money Mistake High-Income Women Make (And Why a Money System Changes Everything)

If you make a good income but still feel like you’re constantly thinking about money, there’s a simple fix that will change how you manage your money.

So, you can rest easy knowing you will never have to start over again once you fix this one money mistake.

For a long time, I thought the answer to financial freedom was making more money.

Then I thought maybe I just needed more discipline.

Maybe I needed to stick to my budget better, maybe I needed to stop spending so much, or maybe I just needed to try harder.

But after paying off over $105,000 of debt and building more than $2 million in assets, I realized something that completely changed the way I manage my money.

The biggest difference wasn’t my income or because I suddenly became more disciplined.

The biggest difference was having a money system that runs itself on autopilot. I make my financial decisions once and it continues implementing those decisions so I can free up my brain space for other things I’d rather do.

That meant that I could stop babysitting a budget and white knuckling my finances every day. It meant I could let go of the daily tracking of my meticulous spreadsheet that relied on my constant check-ins to stay up to date.

This money system gave me the peace of mind knowing that it was programmed to split my paycheck exactly how I want it before it even hit my checking account.

That one shift was a complete gamechanger for my finances and my life.

The Problem Isn’t That You Don’t Know Enough

Most women I talk to are incredibly smart. They’re successful, responsible, and they earn good money.

And yet, they’re still checking their bank account before they buy groceries. They’re still moving money around to make everything work. They’re still wondering where their paycheck went at the end of the month.

It’s not because they lack the knowledge, they’ve tried fixing their finances before, they’ve even read some books, listened to podcasts and tried a couple apps.

Knowledge isn’t the issue; it’s the lack of a money system that has them stuck. You can’t be consistent with your money if you continue to rely on your discipline and motivation only.

That’s a massive mental load they carry, having to make every single money decision, month in and month out.

Every purchase, every bill, every transfer, and every savings goal. Imagine having to start every month with another round of decisions? The SAME decisions over and over again.

That gets exhausting, and eventually, even the most motivated person gets tired.

Why Willpower Isn’t the Answer

For years, personal finance has been sold as a discipline problem.

We’ve heard to just budget better, track every expense, stop buying coffee, be more consistent. And if I’m being honest, I’ve said those same phrases before too, but now I know that there is only so much discipline and willpower you can have before you get burnt out.

It’s what happened to me when I was paying off my debt. It’s exhausting to manage life and finances and kids and everything else. Eventually, I got burned out and struggled to keep moving forward.

The problem is that we think the only way to have long term consistency is to have constant motivation, discipline and willpower.

But you simply can’t white knuckle your finances into submission. You can force your money to be in line using sheer willpower alone. And even if you could for a while, that kind of lifestyle would be miserable in the long run.

The truth is that motivation comes and goes. But when life gets busy and work gets stressful, or the kids get sick, the entire routine falls down like a house of cards.

It’s just not sustainable. When your financial plan depends on you making dozens of good decisions every single week, it becomes incredibly easy to fall behind.

We weren’t meant to think about money this much.

I remember asking myself this one question during one of those moments of exhaustion that would completely change the way I looked at money.

Why do I have to keep making the same money decisions over and over again when I could just decide once?

That question became the foundation of everything I teach today.

Your Money Shouldn’t Need Your Constant Attention

Think about how much time you spend thinking about money. Checking your balance wondering if you can afford something.

Trying to remember which bills are coming out next week, so you don’t overdraft your account… again. Moving money between accounts and recalculating your budget to make sure everything was covered; it was but just barely.

I used to make mental notes about what you shouldn’t spend this month in hopes that it would keep me on track.

Friend, that’s mental energy we’ll never get back and all that just to go through the same cycle every month? No thanks, there is a better way.

One that carries out your decisions every month, so you don’t have to think about it again. This money system has your money cover your bills, makes sure your savings account is growing, automatically investing for you, helping you reach your goals as if it’s a full-time personal assistant with nothing to do but to cater to your priorities and tasks.

And suddenly, the money noise stops. You have money available every month to spend on things you love without worrying that you might have forgotten to pay something. And you can take vacations because you have money set aside for that exact purpose.

That’s what happens when your money has a plan before your paycheck even arrives. That’s what life feels like when your money works on autopilot and does the work for you.

This Is What Financial Freedom Actually Looks Like

I think we’ve been taught the wrong definition of financial freedom.

Most people picture millions of dollars, early retirement, and luxury yachts.

Those things are wonderful goals, don’t get me wrong.

But financial freedom starts much earlier than that. It starts the moment you stop worrying about your money every day. When you can plan a purchase and get excited rather than stressed.

When the money noise doesn’t take over your thoughts anymore.

That is one of the best feelings, being able to breathe easy knowing everything is taken care of.

Having more peace and more freedom to enjoy the life you’re already working so hard to build.

Why I Created the DesignHER Wealth Blueprint

When I finally built a money system that worked, I wanted to help other women feel confident and peaceful around their money too.

And it’s not about teaching them more, because like I mentioned earlier, most women in my community are educated and have read books, watched YouTube videos, and understand the basics of money.

I want to help them implement, have the support and guidance and accountability to follow through this time so they never have to start over with their money.

I want to help you build your money system and to celebrate your wins.

To help you set up your finances to keep moving forward even when life gets messy.

That’s why I didn’t want to create another course that people bought and never finished.

I wanted to create a community.

A safe space where women could build wealth together. Where you don’t have to figure everything out on your own. Where you can ask questions without feeling embarrassed and where someone is there to help when you get stuck.

Because building wealth shouldn’t feel lonely or overwhelming.
